Hefner the Emperor of Porn Addiction is Dead

Hugh Hefner dead after almost single handedly created the most difficult addiction known to men, porn addiction. Women know he was pretending for women's rights when he sexually exploited them, and most women don't understand people who are celebrating him. By addicting men to pornography, an addiction women are essentially incapable of sharing, the porn industry which he was the leader of has isolated women from the normal care and concern of a marital relationship including sex and admiration.

Because porn addiction leads to infantile behaviour such as chronic (private) masturbation, a woman married to a porn addict is saddled with a large overgrown child who disappears often to lose control of their addiction and spins into anti-social behaviour when they are restricted from access to their 'need.' So in reality Hefner did neither gender any favours by contributing greatly to the breakdown of society, family's marital unit.

A woman will tell you there is nothing nicer than curling up in front of the fireplace as it flickers and crackles providing warmth; when drawn to it visually, almost hypnotically, it feels safe, relaxing, romantic. But if you take the fire out of the fireplace built to contain it and throw it on the living room carpet, the fire becomes a dangerous and heated mess and that is what porn addiction does to relationships.

Doris Vincent is the Clinical Director of an Edmonton-based counselling service called Recovery Path. Recovery Path provides help for patients inflicted with sex addiction as well as patients with other damaging addictions. Vincent has been a registered psychologist for over thirty years and believes the internet is to blame for an increase in the number of people afflicted with an addiction that broke out with the introduction of glossy magazines in adult-only corners of the local grocery or pharmacy shelf of periodicals.

It is true the portrayal of naked men and women is as old as civilization itself; according to biblical text, Adam and Eve were naked and suddenly embarrassed when it was pointed out and they recognized it. Prehistoric man created figurines and rock art. Erotic sculptures or depictions can be found all over the world. In the ancient Hindu temples of India, on the walls of Egyptian pyramids for example. Ancient Greeks were fascinated by the human form. But it wasn't until the Victorian Age that the true concept of pornography was understood which coincided with advancements in technology.

With the invention of photography it became possible to distribute pornographic images to the public and this began immediately upon the invention. The first motion picture was exhibited to the public at the Koster and Bials music hall in 1896 in America, but it wasn't long before pornographic film productions began desseminating pornography considered prurient and conducted as a secret activity.

Hefner has an entire biography dedicated to the production and distribution of pornography, and he's the man who brought it into the mainstream. He managed to remove barriers to production and distribution that said it had to be mailed in brown wrapper. He fought for legislation to free the distribution of naked women, and he succeeded by 1955 in the United States. Other principalities followed suit in most western countries.

Along comes the early 1990`s and the internet became a public phenomenon including the introduction of the World Wide Web and with an exponential increase in internet pornography to the point where 70 percent of the original use of the world wide web was to distribute pornographic images and movies, anything imagined in sexual arenas could be obtained almost instantly.

There are three main reasons internet pornography has been more popular than any other method of distribution. It is easily accessible, people can now avoid the embarrassment of purchasing material of a sexual nature in the shops, and today they don't even have to be adults. It is affordable, since the public can access free material anytime of day and night, and finally, it is anonymous, nobody has to know who's using it.

So what is the 'down' side for the user? Well, studies (one example based in Texas) show that pornographic images damage the brain, the frontal lobe becomes as enslaved to porn image addiction as alcohol or cocaine. The frontal lobe shrinks. Looking at it simply rewires rational, moral-and-value systems that the brain is designed for. Porn hijacks the pleasure system of a person's brain, affecting judgement and causing the abuser to become easily agitated and impulsive. But since the sufferer needs only turn to porn, the comforter, it is okay, and a vicious cycle of suffering is born.

Porn has been described by some scientists as the strongest drug on the market. It is made powerful by the ability it has to attack and take advantage of emotional, biological and chemical connections in the brain. Pornography exploits natural urges and natural desires. Throughout the process of making love, the brain narrows its focus into releasing a tidal wave of endorphins, dopamine, norepinephrine, oxytocin and serotonin. When used in the wrong way these drugs only have negative impacts on the brain and nervous system whilst also causing addiction. It is for this reason that the addiction to pornography should have its place with other substance abuses. It is progressive, with more extreme forms of sexual byplay demanded as time goes on, group sex, rape, bestiality, and child pornography creating a whole generation of permanently scarred individuals.

Will you love, honour, comfort, and cherish her from this day forward, forsaking all others, keeping only unto her for as long as you both shall live? Groom: I do. Will you love, honour, comfort, and cherish him from this day forward, forsaking all others, keeping only unto him for as long as you both shall live? Bride: I do.

If you got married you probably have heard these vows spoken, you have agreed to their terms, but what exactly have you agreed to?  What does forsaking all others mean? In my eyes its simple, you both have joined, you are one. You are now mentally, physically and spiritually joined, you must understand that you cannot allow anyone to cause a division. Many people believe the term 'forsaking all others' refers simply to not having an affair. But it goes deeper, you should forsake anyone who causes trouble in your marriage be that family, friends or even co-workers.

Doris Vincent says many internet porn addicts do not think that they have a problem because they are not physically cheating on their partners. But they have embraced something that causes a divide in the marriage. The embrace of addictions is not limited to gambling, drinking, recreational drugs. In part all females are victims of pornography because it sends them a message that their value is determined by physical appearance. Porn thrives on lies, women are portrayed as less than human, they have no character, they are playthings, toys whose attributes are their sexual organs. It's a billion dollar industry and who cares who gets hurt in the process?  Woman are not liberated by this activity, they are dehumanized. Their relationships and overall sense of self are badly contorted.

Reality is that porn stars come from broken homes and more often than not are victims of sexual abuse as a child. When asked, they will say it is demeaning, debasing and humiliating, being exploited by companies and people who are funded by the public to fulfill a specific demand of selfish needs. It is extremely rare for a woman to start working in the porn industry of her own free will with the intention of exhibiting herself as a sexual object. Most of the actresses claim to have been sexually, verbally, and physically abused. There is no such thing as a 'glamorous porn star,' they are crying and vomiting behind the curtains. An estimated 66 percent suffer from herpes and other incurable diseases. Fast forward just a couple more years and you have the end result: a completely numb individual, she wants to quit but cannot because she is now reliant on the money to feed a spiraling drug habit.

Furthermore in a society where the president of the United States runs around grabbing strange women by the 'pussy,' all teenage girls are victims of the pornography industry. There is a certain point where they become sensitive and impressionable to outside stimuli. When their brains' cellular memory and neural pathways are being set for life, they are being sent messages by this industry. Pornography is changing attitudes, self-esteem, and emotions forever. Increasingly girls are suffering from anorexia or going under the knife for procedures such as breast enlargement or nose jobs.

These girls are dissatisfied with their own appearance. They are being taught that their value equates breast size and physical appearance, that men are only interested in voluptuous females and only interested in having spurious sex or, as often as not, taking pictures of them off the internet. This has led to a society of females who believe acceptance from males comes only from beauty or sexual attention, leading to a rise in teenage pregnancies and suicides. This rewiring of female brains will continue to provide new porn actors.

The effects of pornography on females does not end there. Many scholars note that women who feel betrayed by their partners addiction to pornography experience symptoms of PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder)  This is particularly the case when they are left to discover this 'betrayal' for themselves. These women are plagued by feelings of inadequacy and powerlessness. Most complain of suffering from intrusive thoughts and memories. The stress felt by these women results in eating disorders, traumatic flashbacks, feelings of utmost hopelessness, regular crying spells, and eventually physical exhaustion.

The behavior patterns of these women change as they become angry, depressed and self-loathing. Often they become hyper-vigilant, obsessing over contents on their partners phone, activity online or details about pornography use. The pain these women feel is increased by the fact it is a largely private matter, so they are unable to discuss how they feel with anybody who might listen. These women feel isolated, a fact largely proven by the amount of online support now available to women where they can discuss this pain privately and without humiliation. Studies prove that emotional expression is a very important step to their recovery.

Meanwhile, a few women can rest a bit easier knowing the father of modern porn addiction was mortal after all, and not a fantasy. He got old, decrepid, and was, eventually, released from the mortal coil. While he may or may not be able to rest in peace, one thing is for sure, the emperor of porn is dead.
